Thrifting: It’s one of my favorite things to do. One of the greatest things about secondhand stores is that there’s always something new on the rack, so every time you walk in it’s like you’re in a new store. Depending on where you go, you can find name brand stuff for dirt cheap. We’re talking $40-Ann Taylor-sweaters-for-five-bucks cheap. Thrift stores are also a great place to find an unusual staple piece to add some personality to your wardrobe. I have an oversize grandma sweater (complete with the knit flowers) that I wear religiously in the winter. Pair that with some black leggings and combat boots, and BAM! You’ve got a one-of-a-kind outfit provided by Goodwill.
I recently hit up the new Goodwill near my town just to check it out, and I left giddy as a kid on Christmas with my findings. Seriously, three sweaters for $17 (including tax)? You can’t beat that. So today I thought I’d talk about one of those pieces I bought, a denim vest/leather jacket combo that I snagged for $4.99.
This is a Miss London brand jacket. They normally go for around $30, but I found the same one on Poshmark for $15, if you’re interested. Since the jacket is the statement piece, I wore simple black underneath to highlight the jacket. In the photo I’m wearing a plain black tank top and a pair of black jeggings from Walmart, which they sell all-year round (near me) for roughly $13.
I paired the outfit with my Top Moda combat boots, which I bought off Ebay for around $20. (Find similar style here.)
As for accessories, the choker and black necklace are from a 12-pack set that I just bought off Amazon for $8. (I’ll be doing a choker haul soon!) The sunglasses are Jimmy Crystal, which I got for $20 last summer through a Good Morning America deal. They’re normally $40, but Jimmy Crystal is having a sale right now where they’re selling them for $32, if you’re looking for a pair of your own. Otherwise the earrings are a bunch of silver hoops that I got for VERY cheap at Walmart. Clearly, I only wear the purest gold and highest quality diamonds.
And that’s the look! I’ll be hitting up Goodwill again pretty soon, and if I find anything that makes me go, “Yes, gaga!” then I will be sure to post another OOTD to share with the lovely internet people.
TL;DR: I got me a cool jacket for super cheap from Goodwill, the land of fashion surprises.
